For the third year, the US Department of Education and the Edcamp Foundation will work together to welcome the edcamp faithful to an edcamp in Washington, D.C. at the US Department of Education offices. Edcamp US DOED has been a very popular event in the past with the attendees from across the country taking advantage of a time to have engaging conversations and pose solutions with fellow educators and policy makers.
This year will be no exception. On July 8, 2016, we will welcome 120 edcampers to what we know will be passionate, thoughtful and lively discussions.
Because this is such a popular event, we’ve created, what we hope will be, an open and transparent lottery system to offer available spaces to interested attendees.
The Edcamp Foundation Board is serving as the organizers.
The lottery will be open starting today, April 19 until May 2 at 10:00 am EST
Each person who enters will be given a number that will be used in the random number generator.
The participants who are chosen will be notified starting May 2 at 12:00 pm EST, and have one week to reserve their place. After that, participants will be pulled in order off the waitlist in order of lottery number.
There will also be 30 people invited by the Department of Education who will attend as their guests.
There are other conferences in Washington, D.C. on that day, so we were not able to get a bank of rooms, so make reservations as soon as you are notified about your lottery selection. The event website (http://www.edcampusdoed.org/) has more information about the event and hotel information.
Please, if you have attended in the past two years, we ask you not to apply for this year. We want to give as many people as possible the experience of sharing their love of edcamp with the people at the Department of Education.

Have a great day, and make sure to follow along on July 8 using #edcampusa!
