Edcamp 1stYear 2019

Edcamp 1stYear

August 21 20198:00 am - 1:00 pm

Edcamp Foundation builds and supports communities of empowered educators. As a novice educator, you belong to an extensive network of seasoned veterans with a passion for teaching who are ready to support you and ensure you stay in love with the work.

Founded in 2010, the Edcamp Foundation enables educators across the globe in their efforts to learn from and support one another. Edcamp events bring together teachers and administrators and promotes learning through an organic, participant-driven experience where educators drive the agenda of their own learning, providing an alternative to traditional professional development.

At Edcamp 1stYear, we devote the day to our newest colleagues. What is it you wanted to ask but were too embarassed? How does one handle all of the challenges of the teacher life with courage and grace? How does one make it through 185 days ending with our spirits intact and willing to go another round????? All these questions and more will be answered for you at Edcamp 1stYear. Where the conversation goes is totally up to you. Edcamps are participant-driven with sessions developed and facilitated by teachers attending the event.

So....What should you expect?

Energy, enthusiam, and collaboration!

Everyone is here by choice, and eager to ask questions, share passions, and learn from each other.

Edcamps are a fun, laid-back opportunity to network with other educators.

All are welcome to pitch ideas, facilitate a session, and share contact information with those they've connect with to bolster their professional network.

"As educators, it's important that we continue expanding our circles of influence so that we can all continue to learn and improve. Edcamps are a great place to make these connections, not just for that day, but for a lifetime." - Cassie B.

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

Passaic County Technical Institute is most easily accessible by car and located close to Rt. 80 and Hamburg Turnpike. Parking is abundant and more than sufficientfor those wishing to drive rather than carpool.

What can I bring into the event?

All Edcampers are encouraged to bring their personal devices to capture the day's learning in print and photo. Great connections are made throughout the day and we always have a great time sharing with each other as the day progresses on all of our social media platforms.

*A light breakfast and coffee will provided for all participants of Edcamp 1stYear and available throughout the day.
