The 2019 #WATeachLead EdCamp will be held Saturday, October 5 at Puget Sound Educational Service District in Renton from 9:00 am – 3:30 pm.
What is EdCamp #WATeachLead?
EdCamp #WATeachLead is an annual unconference for educators all over Washington State. Hosted by the teacher leader cadre of CORElaborateWA.org, the bloggers and tweeters are hosting this EdCamp as a model for regional collaboration for teachers by teachers. CORElaborate has been offering teacher-led professional learning for Washington State educators over the last half decade.
What is an unconference?
An unconference is an informal, audience-organized forum for discussion, learning, and networking. The schedule is decided at the beginning of the day, and anyone can facilitate at a session. Participants are encouraged to exercise the “Law of Two Feet” and move around until they find a session at which they can learn and/or contribute the most. You will learn something new, maybe make a new friend, and receive information that you can immediately apply in your classroom and professional life!
Who can attend?
Anyone! Most attendees will be K-12 or college educators from around Washington state.
How much does it cost?
It’s free! Coffee and a light breakfast will be provided in the morning, lunch will also be provided thanks to our generous sponsors.
I’m a K-12 teacher. Can I get clock hours?
Yes, Washington State certified teachers can receive five clock hours. Teachers will need to pay for this on their own.
What should I bring?
Nothing is required, but we suggest a laptop and/or smartphone for taking notes and backchannel communication (a secondary conversation on Twitter, Facebook, etc.). We are an informal bunch, so leave your presentation slides at home.
What topics will be covered?
That’s up to you, but possible topics could include teacher leadership, teacher evaluations, problem based learning, technology tools, grades, gamification, coding, CCSS, the maker movement, brain research, Google Apps, and many more.
