Maker Edcamp DC 2020
NOTICE: OUR EVENT IS POSTPONED FROM NOVEMBER 16 TO JANUARY 25!
Maker Edcamp DC is a free unconference for all community members interested in boosting learning in school and outside-of-school settings, including afterschool youth clubs, libraries, summer camps, prisons, hospitals, refugee camps, homeless shelters, etc. An "unconference" is a gathering where all attendees are invited to share ideas in all sessions. To maximize everyone's learning, there is a blurring of "presenter" and "audience." Responsible students are invited to participate. Students will be treated as co-equals.
This gathering is called a "Maker Edcamp" to emphasize the increasing role of hands-on learning (also called "making") and project-based learning (hashtag #PBL) as part of an effective curriculum. One facet of these approaches is "service learning," where students take on real-life projects with tangible benefits to community members, near and far. Some student projects also incorporate the SDG's - the global Sustainable Development Goals. https://www.undp.org/content/undp/en/home/sustainable-development-goals.html
